IDEA (INITIATIVES FOR DEVELOPMENT OF ARMENIA) CHARITABLE FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED BY THE ENTREPRENEURS AND PHILANTHROPISTS RUBEN VARDANYAN AND VERONIKA ZONABEND
Initiatives for Development of Armenia (IDeA) Foundation is a private, non-profit foundation that focuses on the implementation of large-scale projects, designed to advance Armenia – with its ancient history and rich culture – as a modern nation.
The IDeA Foundation was established by the entrepreneurs and philanthropists Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend. IDeA engages both local community and international stakeholders in the creation of sustainable programs that have long-term positive socio-economic impact for Armenia.
The Foundation acts as a transparent and efficient implementation platform for projects initiated and funded by a wide range of donors, partners, and investors, who share IDeA’s vision for a better Armenia.
Among the flagship projects of IDeA Foundation are UWC Dilijan, Tatev Revival, Reconstruction of St. George Cathedral in Tbilisi, Dilijan Development project, the Aurora Humanitarian Initiative and many others.
The concept of the Foundation originated from the project “Armenia-2020”, which was initiated and supported by Ruben Vardanyan and Noubar Afeyan in the early 2000s. Through scenario analysis, “Armenia-2020” aimed to identify development prospects for Armenia until 2020.
Based on priorities of development in Armenia, the IDeA Foundation implements several intertwined infrastructure projects inside and outside the country. All the projects are long-term, complying with the seven guiding principles of the IDeA Foundation.
